“We have to be visible. We should not be ashamed of who we are.” – Marsha P. Johnson
HOSA-Future Health Professionals has grown into a luscious field of gardens, lifting Kenny into the healthcare community to be not just a student but also a friend, family member, and leader. HOSA members and plants are no different in working together to uplift and forward each and every single one of us and our talents. Kenny is gracious and ready to bloom into Minnesota HOSA’s Activities Coordinator for the 2023-2024 year. As a third-year HOSA member and junior at Lakeville North High School taking full-time PSEO at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, they intend to pursue a BS in Nursing. HOSA’s ever-growing garden allows connections to active, pursuing, and teaching individuals in the nursing field, which Kenny recognizes as a path to further understanding the nurturing and impactful nature of nursing carries within the healthcare community. Kenny’s goals as Minnesota HOSA’s Activities Coordinator are to enhance the enjoyment at conferences and easiness for members to enjoy their time surrounded by other individuals interested in healthcare just like themselves; he would also like to bring forth the importance of acceptance of our differences, spreading the importance of inclusion no matter the difference of our ideologies as longer as those ideas aren’t harming others or themselves. Kenny’s mission is to sprout equality to the forefront regarding the importance of serving in their community. In Kenny’s free time, they enjoy reading queer love stories, exercising, dancing, singing off-pitch, and chatting away with anyone willing to listen to their stories. As HOSA’s roots continue to spread, embracing new communities, Kenny is beyond ready to flourish, blossom, and serve in our ever-growing community, thus connecting the gardens of past, present, and future healthcare communities.
