Summary:
Dhruva is a junior at Shakopee High School and currently serves as the President-Elect of his chapter. Over the past year he has focused on learning how to manage a leadership team, coordinate with advisors and state officers, and develop strategies to grow chapter engagement. His chapter has experienced multiple advisor transitions over the past two years, and Dhruva has worked with the officer team to maintain stability by improving communication, delegating responsibilities, and ensuring the chapter continues operating effectively during leadership changes.
Within the chapter he has introduced several initiatives to improve member engagement and preparation. These include coordinating guest speakers from a variety of healthcare careers, organizing mock competitions and event preparation activities during meetings, and providing resources to help members succeed in their competitive events. He has also collaborated with neighboring chapters such as Eden Prairie to host joint events that encourage collaboration between schools and increase student interest in HOSA.
Dhruva has attended Fall Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conference during his freshman year and returned to Fall Leadership Conference in later years, with plans to attend State Leadership Conference and potentially the International Leadership Conference this year. He has competed in Creative Problem Solving, Sports Medicine, Public Service Announcement, and Biomedical Debate. Outside of HOSA he serves as a captain on his Speech and Debate team and is also involved in DECA and music, where he has studied piano for over twelve years.
