Summary:
Malik is a junior at Fridley High School and serves as the president of his HOSA chapter. After stepping into leadership during a period of decline, he focused on rebuilding the chapter by recruiting new members, strengthening communication, and expanding opportunities for involvement. Through presentations in science classes and outreach efforts, he doubled membership and significantly increased conference participation, raising Fall Leadership Conference attendance from 13 to 30 members and Mid-Winter participation from 8 to 33 competitors.
He also introduced several new initiatives within the chapter, including a lettering system based on member participation, regular competitive event preparation sessions, and the chapter’s first winter social event to strengthen community among members. Malik manages chapter communication through GroupMe updates, coordinates conference registration, develops meeting presentations, and works closely with his advisor to keep the chapter organized and active.
Outside of HOSA, Malik serves as the District Governor for the Minnesota–Dakotas Key Club District, where he has helped lead efforts to reactivate and start new Key Club chapters across multiple schools while working toward a district-wide membership growth goal. Within HOSA, he has attended Fall Leadership Conference, Mid-Winter Conference, and State Leadership Conference and has competed in events including HOSA Bowl, Health Career Display, Medical Spelling, and Medical Terminology, placing 5th in HOSA Bowl at the Anoka Mid-Winter Conference.
