“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.”– [C.S Lewis]
After the biomedical program at her school was discontinued due to a lack of funding, Sophie sought new ways to pursue her passion for healthcare and to connect with other students who share that interest. She joined the local HOSA chapter in her sophomore year. Drawn to do more, she joined the Minnesota HOSA Public Relations team as an intern her junior year. Inspired by the experience, she is now continuing her work as a Senior Public Relations Intern. This year, Sophie aims to raise awareness and spark student interest in healthcare careers across Minnesota by leveraging platforms like local news outlets, school newsletters, and Instagram.
A senior at Lakeville North High School, Sophie aspires to become an orthopedic surgeon. She values HOSA for offering unique opportunities for learning and connection not typically available through other high school programs. Through MN HOSA, she has built relationships with students and healthcare professionals that continue to support and broaden her journey toward a career in medicine.
Outside of school and HOSA, Sophie trains as a dancer in the Professional Division at Ballet Royale and performs throughout the year with Twin Cities Ballet. She also serves as a team leader at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, where she oversees a group of volunteers across the downtown campus.
Sophie continues to be inspired by other HOSA members and hopes to spark that same drive in others.
