Shawn first heard about HOSA at summer band camp through a friend—and instantly knew it was for her. She joined her sophomore year and never looked back. After diving into all that HOSA had to offer, she quickly fell in love with the community. Now, she’s ecstatic and honored to help lead that very same community as the 2025–2026 MN HOSA Activities Coordinator.
Growing up, Shawn was endlessly curious about how things worked and had a heart for helping others. Healthcare always seemed like the right fit. Thanks to the support and encouragement she’s found through HOSA, she feels a little closer every day to discovering her future path in the medical field. She’s also passionate about working with kids—from babysitting neighbors to teaching child development and coaching. Nothing makes her smile more than seeing children grow into their own.
While she’s still exploring her place in healthcare, Shawn is also considering a double major or minor in K–12 education. She hopes to someday help others by spreading care, compassion, and advocacy—just like the healthcare professionals she’s admired her whole life.
When she’s not in school, Shawn is probably doing one of two things: something HOSA-related or practicing Color Guard. She joined Lakeville Guard in seventh grade after a friend invited her to a practice, and one season quickly turned into eleven. During her tenth season, she started coaching the elementary Cadets team—and now, Wednesdays with them are one of the best parts of her week. Whether she’s spinning, coaching, or trying a new trick, Shawn can’t imagine her life without Color Guard… just like she can’t imagine it without HOSA.
